Treemendous is an owner-led Auckland tree trimming and pruning company. We work across the wider Auckland region, with most of our jobs on the North Shore, the Hibiscus Coast, throughout Rodney and in West Auckland. Jason has been a qualified arborist for over 20 years and he’s on site for every job: he quotes it, plans it and makes sure the tree is pruned properly. Whether it’s branches growing over a roof in Milford, an overgrown tree blocking the view in Gulf Harbour, or a heavy limb hanging above a driveway in Titirangi, we assess the tree first, choose the right cuts and remove only what’s needed.

The terms are often used interchangeably. Tree trimming usually refers to controlling a tree’s size, shape or clearance, while pruning is the more selective removal of branches to improve the tree’s health, structure and safety. Either way, each cut should have a purpose rather than simply removing branches to make the tree smaller.

The cost depends on the size and number of trees, how much needs to be removed, site access, nearby buildings or powerlines, the equipment required and whether you want the debris taken away. We provide a free on-site assessment and a clear, no-obligation quote before any work begins.

It depends on the species and why the tree is being pruned. Light pruning and the removal of dead, damaged or unsafe branches can often be carried out at any time. Many deciduous trees are best pruned while dormant, while some flowering trees are better pruned after flowering. We assess the individual tree before recommending the best timing.

Yes, in many cases. Selective thinning, crown lifting or crown reduction can improve light and reopen a view while retaining the tree’s natural shape and enough healthy growth to support it. How much can be removed safely depends on the tree’s species, condition and location, so we assess it before recommending the best approach.

Yes, provided the tree can be reduced without damaging its health or structure. Proper crown reduction shortens selected limbs back to suitable side branches, helping reduce the tree’s height or spread while retaining a natural shape. We do not recommend topping, which can cause decay, stress and weak regrowth.

Yes. We can chip and remove the branches and leave the site tidy once the work is complete. You can keep the mulch for your garden, or we can take it away. The agreed clean-up will be clearly included in your quote.

Yes. Jason is a fully qualified arborist and more than 20 years of industry experience. Treemendous also carries $5 million in public liability insurance, so your tree work is completed by an experienced team with the appropriate cover and equipment.

Usually not for an ordinary tree on your own private property, but some trees and locations are protected under the Auckland Unitary Plan. Different rules may apply if the tree is scheduled as notable, located within a Significant Ecological Area or another protected overlay, situated on public land, or protected through a covenant or previous consent.
Notable trees may only be pruned without resource consent when the work meets strict standards, including limits on branch size and the amount of live growth removed. We can help check the tree and property before work begins, but Auckland Council should confirm its legal status when there is any uncertainty.
